Library at 1220 Powers Run Road. They are not held at the Sharpsburg Branch. For directions to the Main

Basic Word Processing Using Microsoft Word 1 &
2

These classes will provide hands on experience
while you learn the basics of Microsoft Wrd. You will learn
how to create new documents, edit your work, change font sizes,
shapes, alignment and more. Word will allow you to create
letters, record important information, and write stories with
greater ease than ever before. Students will also learn to
save and retrieve documents effectively. These classes will
provide you with time for review and
practice. |

Microsoft Excel (Making Financials Easier) 1
& 2

Whether it's balancing your
check book, putting together the family budget or generating charts
for work, Microsoft Excel is the program for you. Improve the
way you turn your data into information using powerful tools to
analyze, communicate and share your results. Microsoft Excel
is a spreadsheet program that will enable students to track &
manage data, addresses, financials, and more. Students will
learn how to use Excel to create simple spread sheets, perform
detailed calculations, sort data and even create colorful charts and
graphs. |

Microsoft PowerPoint (Professional
Presentations) 1 & 2 |
Microsoft PowerPoint enables
you to create exciting slide show presentations that can be used in
business or for personal use. Just think of the possibilities;
business meetings, family reunions, weddings or school. MS
PowerPoint will help you wow any audience. Students will learn
how to create their very own slide show complete with text,
graphics, pictures and animation. |

Cameras 1 & 2

Get ready to say Cheese!
This class is divided into two, two-hour sessions to provide you
with plenty of time to practice using digital cameras. Don't
worry if you do not have a digital camera. This basic digital
camera class will teach you what you need to know before you buy a
camera as well as how to use it after you purchase one. You
will learn how to take pictures, transfer pictures to your computer,
edit your photographs, send photos to your friends and relatives and
more using free Picasa software. |

This class is for those people
with little or no computer experience. The four parts of the
computer are explained with hands-on practice time for each
part. This class, or a similar introduction course, must be
taken before signing up for subsequent computer
classes. |

Email |
Join the computer age with the
use of E-mail. Learn to set up and manage an account and send
messages to family and friends throughout the world. |

Email: Beyond the
Basics |
This class is for E-mail users
that would like to do more with their account then just sending and
receiving mail. Learn how to avoid unwanted advertisement
E-mail, use the address book and send attachments along with E-mail
messages. |

Advanced |
This class provides
a refresher on attachments and introduces the fascinating world of
newsgroups and mailing lists or listservs. A special section
on emailing resumes is available for anyone who is
interested. |

Internet |
Find information on the
Internet when a website's address isn't known through the use of
either subject directories or search engines. |

Using the Online
Catalog |
The online catalog is
introduced through author, title, subject, and word searches.
Local call numbers are explained as well as how to view your

Parents as
Homework Helpers |
This class will introduce
participants to the many databases available through our homepage to
users both at home and at the library, enabling parents to assist
their children with homework. These databases cover
literature, history, science, geography and other topics as well as
magazine indexes designed for school age children. |

Indexes |
This class focuses on
databases offered through EBSCO host, Info Trac, and Alt-Health
Watch. Students learn how to execute simple searches, how to
refine searches, and how to limit searches to full-text
articles. |

Online
Encyclopedias and Other Databases |
This class provides an
overview of general and specialized online encyclopedias plus
databases that focus on a wide variety of topics, including authors
and literary criticism, modern and contemporary art, sources of
full-text articles for students, and the AP Photo
Archive. |

NoveList |
Do you sometimes have trouble finding a book
to read? Do you want to try a new author or genre, but don't
know what to choose? The library subscribes to NoveList, an
online database, that will give you assistance in expanding your
reading choices. NoveList contains materials for all reading
ages from children to adults in a wide variety of genres and
honors. |
